The role of Speech-Language Pathologist requires collaboration with school support staff, parents, and multidisciplinary team members. The primary focus is on the provision of speech and language diagnostic and therapeutic services to students, ensuring academic performance standards are met.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in communication disorders or speech pathology from an accredited University or College program and hold a valid license issued by the state licensing board, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role.

This position involves working as a citywide speech-language pathologist, requiring willingness to travel to multiple school locations as needed. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and sound professional judgment are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide therapeutic services to eligible students using a continuum of service delivery models.
  • Develop and implement IEPs utilizing an educationally-based model with goals aligned to educational standards.
  • Participate in required Domain, Problem Solving, FIE, and Annual Review meetings as needed.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and staff to ensure student success.

Educational Requirements:

  • A graduate degree in communication disorders or speech pathology from an accredited University or College program.

Salary & Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is between $60,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive compensation, employees of Chicago Public Schools receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Working Conditions:

  • Light Work: Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

  • As a condition of employment, an employee must be a resident of the City of Chicago or be willing to become a resident within six months of the date of his/her employment with Chicago Public Schools.
