The Pharmaceutical Compounding Technician plays a crucial role in delivering precise and timely pharmaceutical services. This position involves the preparation, compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing of medications, nutritional products, IV solutions (including chemotherapy and biotherapy), as well as Durable Medical Equipment (DME) in accordance with the policies of BASS Medical Group and relevant state and federal regulations. The technician also assists in managing and controlling inventory for medications and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels, overseeing investigational drugs, and maintaining accurate pricing and regulatory documentation. Adherence to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control policies is essential to maintain a safe and sterile environment for medication preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of IV solutions and admixtures, including chemotherapy and biotherapy.
  • Assist in the management and control of medication and supply inventories.
  • Ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained.
  • Handle investigational drugs in compliance with established protocols.
  • Oversee patient assistance programs and manage associated inventory.
  • Verify the accuracy of inventory pricing and complete necessary regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for medications.
  • Document actions accurately in patient medical records.
  • Comply with organizational policies and all applicable laws.
  • Safeguard the privacy of patients' protected health information (PHI).
  • Collaborate effectively with all staff members.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of California (PHRMTECHR).
  • Preferred experience in IV admixture preparation, sterile techniques, outpatient dispensing, and drug inventory management.
  • General knowledge of contemporary pharmacy practices, including pharmaceutical compounding and familiarity with pharmacy data systems.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, drug nomenclature, and proficiency in pharmacy calculations.
  • Basic understanding of legal requirements and accreditation standards, including Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, and USP.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work within established policies and procedures to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical skills for data collection, synthesis, analysis, and reporting.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Pay Scale:

$43.70 per hour

*Actual pay rates will vary based on factors such as job location, specialty, skillset, education, and experience. The pay scale is representative of the job title but will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
