Service Operations Manager

The Automotive Service Manager, reporting directly to the Store Manager, is tasked with upholding the highest standards of service excellence and embodying our core values to enhance operations within the service department. This role requires fostering a highly motivated team atmosphere and collaborating closely with the Service Team to elevate their performance through active engagement in the store, effectively developing and mentoring team members, and implementing store processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment process by supporting the Store Manager in final hiring decisions.
- Oversee technicians and service staff, organizing and scheduling their tasks, delegating work, and monitoring the completion of assignments.
- Guide service department team members on all operational aspects related to the ISI systems and service standards.
- Engage directly with customers in areas of sales, service, and customer relations.
- Assess the performance and productivity of all service department personnel.
- Manage parts inventory and external purchases, ensuring compliance with the parts and Tire Purchase Program, and updating and restocking in-house parts as necessary.
- Maintain store safety protocols, including the proper use and upkeep of safety equipment.
- Ensure optimal layout and positioning of equipment and hardware within the service department.
- Supervise the shop area, equipment, and team members to ensure adherence to company safety procedures.
- Coach staff on the enforcement of wheel torqueing processes.
- Ensure that proper inspections are consistently conducted.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional leadership and management capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a talent for mentoring others to enhance efficiency.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to cultivate professional relationships with both customers and team members.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Service Manager capacity.
- A proven history of surpassing business objectives.
- Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Solid understanding of basic OSHA regulations and MSDS compliance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
- Occasional exertion of force to move objects, with varying weight requirements.
- Requires maintaining a production rate pace that involves the continuous pushing and/or pulling of materials.
