Position Overview:

Sentara Healthcare is actively seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Vascular Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This role is pivotal in providing exceptional care to patients recovering from vascular surgeries and related medical conditions.

This is a Full-Time Night Shift position.

Unit Details:

The Vascular Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit, known as 9 Kaufman, consists of 24 monitored beds dedicated to patients undergoing vascular surgery, telemetry, and renal/pancreas transplants. Our team includes RNs, LPNs, Nursing Care Partners, Unit Ambassadors, and Clinical Support Associates, all working collaboratively to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Our unit specializes in a variety of vascular procedures, including but not limited to aortic aneurysm repairs, carotid endarterectomies, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. Nurses in this unit receive specialized training and support to obtain the PCCN certification. The unit's environment fosters extensive learning and skill development, providing exposure to diverse patient needs.

Nurse-Patient Ratio:

The nurse-to-patient ratio on 9 Kaufman is 1:4, ensuring that our nurses can provide focused and individualized care.

  • Conducting patient assessments and admissions
  • Performing rounding checks
  • Administering medications
  • Communicating with family members
  • Overseeing the overall care of patients

Qualifications:

  • Current RN License
  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire
