Position Summary


The Department of General Services is looking for qualified candidates to fill a Facilities Systems Specialist position within the Facilities Support Division.


The ideal candidate will oversee, assess, operate, design, and manage intricate HVAC, plumbing, security, and electrical systems within County facilities to ensure optimal performance. Responsibilities include conducting engineering evaluations of existing systems, identifying operational, construction, design, and maintenance discrepancies, and developing solutions and engineering designs to rectify identified issues. Additionally, the candidate will establish, execute, and oversee a preventive maintenance program for both basic and complex systems, as well as procure, manage, and supervise commercial contract services.

This role may also involve providing on-site supervision to a diverse group of technicians tasked with addressing emergency outages and routine service requests.

Minimum Qualifications


Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Trades, or a related field; four (4) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Preferred certifications include Certified Energy Manager and/or Facilities Management Professional.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is also preferred.

Job Requirements


The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment background checks, including criminal, credit, and DMV record checks, which will involve fingerprinting.

  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Some tasks may involve hazardous conditions based on location or nature of work.
  • Must be available for emergency response and may be required to work beyond scheduled hours.
  • Must hold or obtain a CFC License (universal refrigerant recovery) within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must hold or obtain a state-issued Master's License (Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing) within 12 months of hire.
