Job Title: Staff Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Attorney to join our team at the State of Minnesota. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance to our agency, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and contributing to the development of policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to agency staff, senior management, and executives on complex legal matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Conduct research and analysis on diverse and complex legal issues, providing sound legal advice and counsel.
  • Collaborate with agency staff and stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions to legal challenges.
  • Represent the agency in legal proceedings, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
  • At least one year of continuous experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to provide sound legal advice and counsel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with agency staff, stakeholders, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and experience working with the MN gambling statutes and federal laws and regulations.
  • Experience planning and delivering complex legal information to non-legal audiences.
  • Experience in union contract and labor laws.
  • Experience in developing and managing internal policies and procedures.
