Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Systems Engineer at Spectrum, where you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-wide Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of OSS applications and their associated operating systems and databases.
  • Provide application administration support for OSS applications across all Charter Divisions.
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of systems engineering activities to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality.
  • Create detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications/services and enhancements to existing systems/services.
  • Develop core code modules, unit test tools, and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Provide on-call support for overnight change/release activities for Wireless applications issues after normal business hours.
  • Use established change management processes to perform operational procedures with minimal customer impact.
  • Document systems configurations and upgrades.
  • Design and implement change control policies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions, and system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance, and storage resources.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Demonstrated in-depth ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications.
  • Demonstrated in-depth ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated in-depth ability to troubleshoot application problems.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of OSS applications and software.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring, and control of the systems engineering process.
Preferred Skills:
  • Network CCNA/CCNP.
  • Wireless LAN controller knowledge/certifications - RACA/RAZA.
  • RedHat - RHCSA.
  • Virtualization - vSphere, vCenter, eSXI, vROPS.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience; may require industry-standard certifications.
