Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Senior Production Planner is tasked with the development and oversight of comprehensive production and delivery timelines. This role consolidates the master schedule based on business objectives, shipment requirements, inventory levels, and production capabilities, acting as a key liaison among Engineering, Sales, Production, and Shipping teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Oracle ERP and Op Center systems to formulate short-term production schedules while considering long-term strategic goals.
  • Set and assess job order scheduling priorities.
  • Address Supply, Demand, and Capacity challenges while maximizing labor and equipment efficiency.
  • Implement effective schedules to achieve optimal On-Time In-Full (OTIF) or On-Time Delivery (OTD) rates.
  • Conduct and collaborate on all capacity planning tasks, aligning output with designated production sectors.
  • Employ Oracle ERP to synchronize Sales Orders with the master schedule via Op Center; ensure the availability of necessary raw materials, semi-finished products, supplies, equipment, and personnel to meet delivery commitments.
  • Review existing procedures and propose enhancements to boost planning and scheduling efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and closure of all Work Orders and projects within scheduling systems.
  • Evaluate and implement ERP methodologies essential for planning, scheduling, controlling, measuring, and assessing production operation effectiveness.
  • Communicate forecasts for finished goods and inventory estimates to the Management team effectively.
  • Monitor and report significant changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies, prioritizing customer mitigation efforts.
  • Promptly address demand-related challenges.
  • Timely coordinate and communicate production schedules to team members.
  • Manage load balancing and bottleneck scheduling, employing the theory of constraints (TOC) for enhanced scheduling accuracy.
  • Oversee and execute Effectivity Dates for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Create and maintain production orders within Op Center in line with commercial and validation production plans.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels; establish safety stock thresholds.
  • Ensure that ERP system data related to the supply chain and planning is configured correctly.
  • Identify weekly manufacturing variances and report findings to the cost accounting team.
  • Analyze and compare standard costs against actual costs, identifying and explaining any variances in manufacturing.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by adhering to company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Batch Record instructions. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities relevant to the role and participate in their execution.
  • Align ERP production schedules with customer demands.
  • Report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Conduct regular maintenance of monthly forecasts.

Additional Duties:

  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Operations Management.
  • A minimum of 6 years of planning experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Oracle (or other Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Op Center (or other Tier 1 or 2 Manufacturing Operations Management systems).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking production efficiencies and reporting metrics to senior management.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution.
  • Competent in using computer systems and software applications.
  • Effective problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in information technology or systems administration.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
