Position Objective
The Educational Support Specialist operates under the guidance of the Head of School, playing a crucial role in assisting certified Student Services personnel to ensure that the necessary classroom accommodations are implemented in accordance with students' 504 Plans and IEPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold the core beliefs of Colorado Early Colleges as outlined on the official website.
- Collaborate with Exceptional Student Services (ESS) certified staff to monitor and execute students' accommodations, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation of student progress towards their educational objectives.
- Provide individualized and small group support to students, reinforcing and reviewing coursework as needed.
- Assist instructional staff in managing classroom behavior to minimize disruptions, maintain a safe and organized environment, and keep students focused on their academic tasks.
- Support special education students by supervising and accompanying them in various settings, including safety drills, emergencies, field trips, hallways, cafeteria, and common areas, enabling full participation in school activities.
- Engage in the IEP process and serve as a resource for MTSS and Mental Health teams as required.
- Adhere to all relevant safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure proper assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or special needs.
- Attend meetings and professional development sessions as requested by the Director of Student Services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Employment Conditions
All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and reference verification. In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected candidate must verify their legal right to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
