Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital, a prestigious institution renowned for its exceptional pediatric care, is seeking a skilled Acute Care Child Rehabilitation Specialist to enhance our therapy team in a PRN role.
Our pediatric rehabilitation team delivers comprehensive therapy services within a 226-bed pediatric facility, which encompasses various specialized units including a PICU, Cardiac Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit, Hematology/Oncology, and Level IV NICU.
The Child Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for selecting appropriate evaluations and treatment techniques tailored to the patient's diagnosis, age, and emotional/physical condition while developing effective treatment plans. The role requires proficiency in utilizing treatment modalities, equipment, and established protocols. Regular re-evaluations are conducted in accordance with departmental standards, with treatment plans adjusted as necessary.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly documents evaluation results in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Completes daily progress notes reflecting patient responses to treatment and assessments relevant to the treatment plan.
  • Prepares discharge notes summarizing treatment courses, progress towards goals, and recommendations for follow-up.
  • Ensures documentation is clear, concise, and completed within established timeframes to facilitate ongoing treatment and reimbursement processes.
  • Engages with families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to anticipate and address the special needs of patients.
  • Provides educational resources tailored to the patient's understanding and includes families/caregivers in the educational process.
Qualifications:
  • New graduate Physical Therapist eligible; 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
  • Education: Master’s degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Certification: BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
