Job Title: Assistant Teacher

Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Assistant Teacher to assist in the planning and implementation of classroom activities for preschool children. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our young students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing classroom activities that align with the Head Start program's core functions.
  • Support the lead teacher in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to ensure a smooth transition between home and school.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required by the Head Start program.
  • Participate in ongoing monitoring and self-assessment to ensure the highest quality of care and education.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate and/or 12 Early Childhood Education Credits.
  • AA or BA preferred.
  • Head Start or Preschool experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
  • 18+ years old or older required.
  • Driver's license strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, and internet navigation.
  • Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid, if required.
