Job Summary

The Tarrant Regional Water District is seeking a highly skilled Equipment Operator Assistant to join our team. As an Equipment Operator Assistant, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment on various TRWD projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the operation of heavy equipment, including uniloader, backhoe, water truck, grapple truck, ag tractor, gradall, and dump truck.
  • Communicate equipment mechanical issues to fleet mechanics and ensure prompt repairs.
  • Perform daily maintenance and inspections on all equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • Learn and follow safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist with construction projects, including building fence, pouring and finishing concrete, carpentry, and painting.
  • Participate in vegetation maintenance, painting, building fences, and cleaning on pipelines, floodway, ROW, or in operations facilities/property.
  • Pull and park utility trailers and utilize weed eaters, zero-turn mowers, and standard mowers.
  • Pick up trash along ROW and/or floodway and maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the team and achieve project goals.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience working with heavy equipment and ability to show proficiency operating one (1) of the following pieces of equipment: Uniloader/Skid steer/Bobcat Backhoe Grapple truck Rubber Tire Loader Ag tractor Gradall Dump truck.
  • Ability to communicate equipment issues to fleet mechanics and pull and back up utility trailers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of grade.
  • Prior experience painting.
  • Ability to accomplish one of the following: Operate a tractor Grind, cut, or weld Light fleet mechanical repairs.
Education and Certifications
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid Texas CDL Class A or B without restriction E.
  • CDL tanker (N) endorsement.
Work Environment

The Equipment Operator Assistant will work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, exposed to various weather conditions, and will periodically work in buildings without climate control. The position will also work in confined spaces, underground, in ditches, on waterways such as lakes or rivers, and at various heights.
