Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist at King's Daughters, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient orders and obtain patient clinical history prior to examination.
  • Perform examinations by analyzing patient information and selecting the appropriate scanning protocol.
  • Edit scan protocols to ensure the highest possible diagnostic value and position patients for optimal imaging.
  • Accommodate patient comfort and modesty, immobilizing patients as needed.
  • Recognize changes in patient behavior indicating distress and take necessary action.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and provide hard copy records with proper patient identification.
  • Practice radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency in archival and digitized data, as well as proper handling and storage of optical discs.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on equipment and report malfunctions to supervisors or radiology administrative directors.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent.
  • Maintain active certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Maintain active Radiographer Operators Certificate (ROC) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or other applicable states as needed.
  • Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Working Environment

Work in a fast-paced environment with constantly moving mechanical parts, exposure to blood and/or body fluids, and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position, frequently required to walk and move about, and constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team members.
