Overview

As a key member of our healthcare team, the Radiologic Imaging Specialist operates advanced diagnostic equipment and conducts a variety of technical imaging procedures related to Computed Tomography (CT). This role involves providing comprehensive patient orientation, explaining procedures, and delivering pre- and post-diagnostic care throughout the testing process.

In this position, you will perform complete diagnostic imaging tests, which include patient positioning, equipment calibration, and thorough documentation of findings, all under the guidance of the imaging supervisor or manager. You will also assist patients with their basic care needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct CT examinations on patients following established departmental protocols under the supervision of the Medical Director.

• Ensure that all equipment is operational, safe, and compliant with diagnostic standards.

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and maintain imaging quality, coordinating with service representatives as necessary.

• Perform routine maintenance and infection control measures on equipment and facilities after each procedure.

• Complete quality assurance checks and maintain accurate equipment logs.

• Manage clinical supply inventories to ensure all diagnostic rooms are fully equipped for procedures.

• Actively engage in patient testing, addressing routine, urgent, and emergent requests.

• Review physician orders to confirm the requested diagnostic tests align with clinical indications.

• Collaborate with Radiologists to establish appropriate exam protocols and provide patients with essential information regarding their diagnostic tests.

• Conduct Point of Care testing in accordance with hospital guidelines and effectively initiate IVs as required.

• Finalize diagnostic examinations and manage image post-processing.

• Demonstrate proficiency in the PACS process and perform daily quality assurance tasks.

• Complete image processing, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and up-to-date for departmental and patient records.

• Monitor and document radiation dose levels for patient safety.

• Communicate any significant diagnostic findings to the Radiologist promptly.

Qualifications

Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:
• No prior experience necessary.

Licensure and Certifications:
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) upon hire or transfer.

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (CT) within nine months of hire or transfer.

• Certified by the state of Texas – MRAD upon hire or transfer.

• BLS-CPR certification required, with a 14-day grace period.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
• Associate's Degree preferred.

Experience:
• One year of experience as a radiographer or one year of clinical rotation experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
