Lead Automation Systems Engineer

Automated Systems, Inc. is on the lookout for a Lead Automation Systems Engineer to enhance our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to spearhead innovative projects, utilizing your expertise in process automation control systems design and development.

Role Summary:

In the capacity of Lead Automation Systems Engineer, you will oversee the complete hardware and software design, as well as the enhancement or troubleshooting of process automation control systems. Your duties will include defining project requirements, crafting detailed software design specifications, programming PLC and SCADA applications, configuring server applications, establishing process-based historian databases, optimizing control loops, delivering startup services for control systems, diagnosing existing control systems, and managing control system qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Direct the design and development of application/control systems, accommodating various complexities.

· Innovate and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet defined requirements.

· Adjust programming and system logic across interconnected systems and subsystems.

· Achieve proficiency in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs and PCs.

· Collaborate with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their business needs, thus defining project scope, plans, and deliverables.

· Excel in a matrix organization, emphasizing customer satisfaction and personal growth.

· Be prepared for regional travel, which may comprise 10-25% of your responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

· Practical experience with Rockwell products, including ControlLogix, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, RSBizWare, and RSBatch.

· Familiarity with other PLC platforms such as GE, Siemens, Modicon, along with various SCADA and HMI packages like iFix and Wonderware.

· Preferred experience in developing comprehensive control system electrical design packages.

· In-depth knowledge of control system networks, including Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and others.

· Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership capabilities.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Background in instrumentation is a plus.

· Understanding of Bio-pharmaceutical processes is advantageous.

· Previous experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and validation procedures is desirable.

· Knowledge of S88 Batch standards and practical experience in implementing batch systems are valuable assets.

Education and Experience Requirements:

· A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

· 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems, along with a solid understanding of process controls, is essential.

· Previous work experience in the validation of pharmaceutical and biotech systems is required.

· Willingness to work onsite and travel to client locations is necessary.
