Job Title: Plumber

We are seeking a skilled Plumber to join our team at Southern Air, a leading provider of plumbing services in the Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina regions.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial and public buildings. Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in commercial and public buildings
  • Work with a team to learn and perform tasks laid out by the plumbing superintendent and lead plumber
  • Knowledge of plumbing practices and methods, health and safety regulations, and materials for operating and repairing plumbing systems
  • Operate specialized machinery, equipment, and tools to repair, install, and maintain plumbing systems
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Install other plumbing equipment, such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, appliances, and trim
  • Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems are in working order
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience as a plumbing apprentice performing in commercial or residential installation and or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
  • Journeyman or Master Plumbers License preferred
  • Overtime may be necessary, and one must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for two or more hours at a time, depending on their position. Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures and all weather conditions.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day. Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals requiring safety data sheet knowledge.
