Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Microelectronics Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our manufacturing organization, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining manufacturing processes, leading factory support, and providing design and engineering support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes with a focus on production capabilities and affordability
  • Provide ROI justification for process improvements
  • Specify, identify, and procure new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and prepare equipment for production
  • Develop and revise process documentation and work instructions
  • Lead and monitor builds as they work through our process flow; report out on progress and continuous improvement activities
  • Monitor process yields and cost, recommend and implement quality improvements to drive improved metrics
  • Solve manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, and tooling, training, and instructions) to support production
  • Assist with the training of new personnel and participate in the design of operation training materials
  • Support factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
  • Help build team meet the requirements of J-STD-001, internal requirements, and other relevant IPC/MIL-STDs
  • Recommend product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products
  • Document state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers
  • Participate in design producibility reviews for new products
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS)
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications
  • Experience using J-STD-001 and other IPC standards in manufacturing. Certifications a plus.
  • Microelectronics manufacturing experience - especially in Automated Optical Inspection, Automated Depanelization, and/or CMM & GD&T
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership and teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small and large groups
  • Experience working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from inception through launch
  • Experience working through root cause and corrective action activities. Six Sigma certifications a plus.
  • Demonstrate engineering technical leadership
  • Experience working with or supporting union represented personnel

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
