Responsibilities:

  • Conduct transportation projects, including traffic operations, roadway design, bridge design, transportation planning, and environmental assessments
  • Manage the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications for various projects
  • Review preliminary and final plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates, making necessary recommendations for modifications
  • Participate in contract bidding and administration as needed
  • Supervise and observe project design and progress, coordinating with City, State, and County officials and other agencies
  • Supervise junior engineers and technical support personnel
  • Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff
  • Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate
  • Resolve complex problems, such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • 5-10 years of experience in the transportation industry, preferably in Kentucky
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of software systems: HCS, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, CORSIM, VISSIM, CUBE, TransCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with DOT projects is strongly preferred
