Work Schedule:

1st shift, Monday-Friday

At Oriana House, we recognize that alcoholism and substance abuse are chronic conditions that necessitate a lifelong commitment to recovery. Our programs guide individuals through a comprehensive rehabilitation process, emphasizing self-admission of issues, abstinence, relapse prevention, and daily dedication to recovery.

As an Intake Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to identify, screen, and evaluate potential clients. Your role will involve:

  • Preparing and maintaining precise case files for each assigned client.
  • Collaborating effectively with court personnel to ensure thorough screening of applicable offenders.
  • Reviewing pre-sentence reports and liaising with Probation/Parole departments, law enforcement, and criminal justice agencies for insights on prospective clients.
  • Ensuring that eligible inmates are screened for suitable community intermediate sanctions.
  • Conducting and accurately documenting screening interviews of prospective clients promptly.
  • Gathering background information from prospective clients to formulate future goals and objectives, utilizing appropriate assessment tools.
  • Facilitating productive communication while fostering a professional and supportive relationship with clients and colleagues.
  • Recognizing and reinforcing prosocial thinking and behaviors in alignment with program guidelines.
  • Identifying antisocial thinking and behaviors and addressing them in a constructive manner.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Corrections, or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: Six (6) months of experience in Corrections and/or Social Services.
  • Case management experience is a plus.
  • Must achieve and maintain the required proficiency level for the ORAS as certified by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati. Failure to do so will disqualify the employee from performing essential job functions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • A valid Ohio driver's license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements are mandatory.
  • Ability to work effectively with agency staff, external contacts, and a diverse client population while obtaining necessary security clearances for correctional facilities.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and pass a drug screening.
