Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Assessments:
- Perform chemical evaluations of environmental samples, particularly water.
- Identify and quantify pollutants, assessing their potential effects on the ecosystem and public health.
- Design and execute field sampling initiatives and laboratory analyses.
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Examine intricate chemical data utilizing advanced statistical and modeling methodologies.
- Interpret results and compile comprehensive technical documents, including risk assessments and environmental impact reports.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Guide clients on adherence to local, state, and federal environmental legislation.
- Assist in securing necessary permits and approvals for projects involving chemical applications or remediation efforts.
- Stay informed about updates in environmental regulations and standards.
Remediation and Mitigation:
- Develop and propose remediation plans for contaminated sites.
- Supervise the execution of remediation projects, ensuring effective chemical management.
- Evaluate the success of remediation initiatives and modify strategies as required.
Consultation and Client Interaction:
- Offer expert recommendations and solutions to clients regarding chemical management and environmental concerns.
- Prepare and present findings and reports to clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on topics related to environmental chemistry.
Sustainability and Environmental Management:
- Encourage sustainable chemical practices and processes within client operations.
- Assess and suggest enhancements to minimize environmental impacts and promote sustainability.
- Support the formulation of corporate environmental policies and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in environmental chemistry, consulting, or a related field, with a proven history in environmental assessments, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Skills: Proficient in chemical analysis methods and laboratory equipment; strong grasp of environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA); excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; adept in statistical and modeling software (e.g., SPSS, R, GIS); and effective communication and presentation skills. Project management experience is advantageous.
Working Conditions: This role involves a combination of office, laboratory, and fieldwork, with potential travel to client sites or contaminated areas. Candidates must be able to work in diverse environmental conditions and safely handle hazardous materials.
