Proton Therapy Center Accelerator Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linear Accelerator Engineer to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH). This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cutting-edge proton therapy center.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accelerator operations, maintenance, and repair, with a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience. They will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our proton therapy system, participating in preventive maintenance, upgrades, and repairs, and collaborating with external contractors and manufacturers to achieve installation acceptance and equipment repair.
The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with physicists, radiation therapists, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals. They will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain the proton therapy system, ensuring uptime exceeding 95%
- Mentor and train junior engineers, monitoring compliance with operational procedures
- Participate in preventive maintenance, upgrades, and repairs, working with external contractors and manufacturers as needed
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of the proton therapy center
- Develop and implement modifications to improve equipment performance and patient outcomes
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on accelerator experience with accelerators, beamlines, and gantries
- Solid knowledge of building engineering systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- A competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience
