Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Specialist to join our team at the State of Alaska. As a Network Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our local area network (LAN) and providing tier 2 support services for our Help Desk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain our LAN, including hardware and software support for routers, servers, and network attached devices.
  • Design and build network servers using current technologies and best practice standards.
  • Provide business needs analysis, research, and recommendations to the Internet Technology Subcommittee.
  • Monitor and review network performance, resolve detected issues, and review security logs to fine-tune and correct the network.
  • Troubleshoot complex trouble calls or tickets and provide in-person customer service where appropriate.
  • Research, review, and implement industry best security practices in all environments of the network.
Requirements
  • Two years of professional experience in an IT-related field, such as networking, information technology analysis and troubleshooting, system maintenance, computer hardware, software installation, and maintenance, network utilities and services, or database management.
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of non-specific professional experience.
