The Construction Services Technician plays a crucial role in delivering construction solutions for smaller-scale projects. Additional competencies in tile work, carpeting, roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC are highly beneficial. This position emphasizes the importance of high-quality construction and exceptional service in all interactions with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow team members involved in the construction process. Furthermore, they may support larger project management efforts alongside a Superintendent, which includes coordinating with subcontractors and ensuring quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
1 Client Satisfaction
a Address and resolve punch list items efficiently.
b Participate in or conduct final walkthroughs with clients.
c Obtain signed completion and satisfaction certificates from clients.
2 Project Communication
a Attend pre-construction meetings with clients as needed.
b Provide daily project updates to the Construction Coordinator in a digital format.
c Relay information to clients and update the Construction Coordinator with all feedback.
3 Construction Oversight
a Schedule projects in collaboration with the Construction Manager/Coordinator.
b Execute construction tasks as required.
c Assist in managing subcontractor activities.
d Handle material deliveries and logistics.
e Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, local regulations, and project scope.
f Document all project activities, including photographs and job logs, using the designated mobile application.
g Aid in managing and processing change orders.
4 Subcontractor and Resource Management for Larger Projects
a Maintain quality through regular site inspections.
b Evaluate and rate all vendors and subcontractors.
c Coordinate inspections with local authorities.
5 Budget Management and Schedule Compliance
a Ensure material suppliers deliver as per the purchase order.
b Assist in validating budget adequacy.
c Conduct construction services within budget constraints.
d Ensure subcontractors fulfill their contractual obligations.
e Confirm schedule and progress with the Construction Coordinator.
f Identify tasks outside the contracted scope of work.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven track record in customer service
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic mathematical proficiency
- Experience in restoration and/or construction is preferred
- Ability to perform construction tasks as required
- High school diploma or GED
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods. Occasional heavy lifting of materials. Some driving and sitting involved. May require climbing ladders. Exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels. Use of power tools and machinery is expected.
Working Hours and Travel Requirements
This is a full-time role, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The position may require additional hours, on-call duties, and weekend work for emergency services. Local travel is necessary, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.
