Structural Engineering Internship Opportunity

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineering Intern to join our renewables team in Minneapolis, Madison, and Denver offices.

About the Role

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the structural design of foundations and ancillary structures for utility scale wind and solar facilities
  • Preparing or directing structural design reports, specifications, and plans
  • Providing professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to draft and design utility scale solar projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited B.S. program in civil/structural engineering
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318) including loading calculations
  • Knowledge of shallow and deep foundations, including spread footings, slab-on-grade, piles, and concrete caissons
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software, such as Mathcad, STAAD, RISA, Enercalc
