This position plays a critical role in maintaining the facility's high standards of care, adhering to state and federal regulations, and upholding the mission, vision, and values of Plymouth Harborside Healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administrative:
    • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to ensure adequate nursing coverage
    • Conduct staff meetings to provide updates and ensure staff are informed
    • Collaborate with other departments to provide timely and effective care
    • Participate in nursing committees as requested
    • Assume nursing administrative responsibilities for weekend and holiday coverage as needed
  • Clinical:
    • Monitor communication between licensed nursing staff and CNAs during and between shifts
    • Participate in shift-to-shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff
    • Make rounds on all units to address any issues or concerns
    • Monitor meals and assist as needed
    • Review the report book and ensure new problems have corresponding care plans
    • Complete New Pressure Area Reports and send to the Director of Nursing and Dietician as needed
    • Keep census current
    • Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly tasks as assigned
    • Remove discontinued drugs from carts and follow procedure
    • Audit treatment and medication books to ensure compliance
    • Ensure assessments are completed as scheduled
    • Update care plans as warranted
    • Notify the DON of all incidents
    • Monitor lab results as needed
    • Ensure discharge planning processes are in place as needed
    • Report incidents, accidents, and adverse events to Administrator and Director of Nursing
    • Investigate resident/family complaints and take appropriate actions
Qualifications:

A graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current licensure by the state board of examiners of nurses in the facility's state. The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors. Prior experience in long-term care is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrates leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent management skills, and the ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make decisions as necessary. Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to create a resident-centered environment. Knowledge of policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
