About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Distribution System Specialist to join our team at Brady. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing on-site electrical distribution system evaluations and conducting arc flash risk assessment calculations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the sales team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
  • Work with clients to determine the appropriate arc flash solution and gather electrical system data
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and coordinate arc flash training and certifications
  • Project manage assigned projects with customers from job kick off through job close out
  • Evaluate documents and gather electrical data to create engineering study project proposals
  • On-site electrical system assessments to document existing system configuration, equipment ratings, conductor lengths and ampacities, and overcurrent protective device information
  • Perform power system studies including arc flash studies, short circuit coordination studies, and fault current studies
  • Perform general and site specific arc flash training for customers
  • Perform arc flash audits and gap analysis, create customer reports, and communicate findings to customers
  • Identify electrical code violations
  • Create arc flash report (deliverables include arc flash labels, single-line diagrams, and recommendations to reduce incident energy)
  • Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) and trainer to internal personnel on arc flash safety, assessments, audits, and calculations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • In lieu of education, 10 years of practical electrical engineering, engineering calculation, or field experience in the electrical building construction industry is acceptable
  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering, engineering calculation experience or related field experience
  • Must have the ability to understand installed electrical distribution systems, electrical schematic diagrams, and engineering documentation
  • Must possess knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and OSHA requirements in relation to arc flash and electrical distribution
  • Self-directed and able to solve problems in the field with no supervision
  • Must be proficient in the use of SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be proficient in training of customers to both general arc flash principles and site specific
  • Ability to interface with customers including maintenance, safety, and plant engineering personnel; as well as with upper levels of management
  • Must be proficient in the generation of technical reports including recommendations to clients
  • 50 – 70% US based, overnight travel and on-site field work is required
