Database Systems Specialist

Powers Health is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management and administration, with expertise in either Microsoft SQL or Intersystems Iris.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and integrity of our databases. This will involve designing and implementing database systems, optimizing database performance, and ensuring data security and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Designing and implementing database systems to meet the needs of users and comply with organizational strategy and direction
• Ensuring database performance, security, and integrity through regular maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery procedures
• Collaborating with application administrators, system engineers, and end-users to resolve technical issues and improve database performance
• Participating in the implementation of new databases and database servers, and ensuring compliance with vendor licensing agreements
• Providing second and third-level support to system administrators and system engineers, and escalating issues to the manager of database administration as needed
• Maintaining accurate records of databases, database servers, and information surrounding all databases in a central location for other members of the team
• Monitoring backups to verify they complete on a daily basis
• Facilitating communication among IT staff and users by participating in team meetings and providing verbal and written updates to the manager of database administration and director of IT technical services
Required skills and qualifications include:
• Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• Minimum three years of experience working with at least one of the following databases: Intersystems Iris or Microsoft SQL
• Certification in the respective database preferred
• Minimum two years of scripting experience
• Knowledge of Linux or Windows operating systems
• Knowledge of VMware ESXi
Healthcare experience preferred. Must be able to participate in on-call rotation and be able to respond to issues after hours as needed.
