About the Role:

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will collaborate with a team of engineers to develop software tools for streamlining product development in medical device manufacturing. This multi-disciplinary role involves designing, developing, and testing device control software at both the driver and application levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software for a robotic system that automates pathology tasks
  • Create algorithms for controlling a multi-component mechatronic system based on software requirements
  • Write production-level code for release onto marketable products
  • Design real-time feedback control loops
  • Develop interfaces between mechanical and software components of the system (e.g., motor controllers, cameras, and actuators)
  • Simulate the robotic system for testing purposes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or industrial control applications
  • Experience with high-fidelity control loops
  • Familiarity with C/C++ and Python programming languages
  • Ability to work in a LINUX environment
  • Experience working with GIT or other code repository systems
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack
  • Multithreading and Real-Time Systems knowledge
  • Experience working with PID-based control for motion and temperature control
  • Familiarity with hardware communication interfaces like Ethernet, Serial, SPI, I2C
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS
  • ROS or YARP experience is a plus
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and industry best practices for software development and deployment
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced environments
  • Drive, determination, and ability to meet aggressive milestones/deadlines
