Your Role:

As an Elixir Software Engineer at Madwell, you will collaborate within a cohesive team to bridge the gap between insightful brands and stunning creative solutions that can thrive in any format. Reporting to the VP of Technology, you will take on a leadership role in constructing dashboards for advertising analytics and other business metrics, along with various applications. You will be instrumental in making key decisions regarding backend frameworks, including authentication, search optimization, personalization, and API architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in a creative team environment to brainstorm and develop compelling ideas, including planning, designing, and ultimately constructing our digital platforms.
  • Provide mentorship to colleagues, both within the development team and across other disciplines, on best practices for Elixir programming and managing large datasets.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies and Jira to enhance team productivity.
  • Regularly submit pull requests to receive feedback from team members and communicate completed deliverables.
  • Assist in translating client feedback into actionable next steps, often in collaboration with Accounts and/or Production.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and producers/AMs/designers to update progress, resolve conflicts, and keep all parties informed.
  • Devote approximately 85% of your time to directly contributing to the codebase.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proficient in AWS and Linux server management for site setup and deployment.
  • Skilled in creating semantically correct and accessible HTML.
  • Strong expertise in Elixir.
  • Proficient in CSS and Tailwind, with sound judgment regarding CSS capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of Git branching, merging, and rebasing.
  • Strong proficiency in handling large datasets using databases such as Postgres, Big Query, and other cloud-based solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills to articulate ideas to the team and clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with React or PHP is a plus.
  • Familiarity with game development environments such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
