Position: Elixir Software Engineer

About You:

Your Role:

As an Elixir Software Engineer at Madwell, you will be an integral part of a cohesive team focused on bridging the gap between dynamic brands and exceptional creative solutions that resonate across all platforms. Reporting to the VP of Technology, you will take on a leadership role in developing dashboards for advertising analytics and other critical business metrics, as well as various applications. You will be responsible for making key decisions regarding backend architecture, including authentication, search functionality, personalization, and API design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a creative team to brainstorm and develop compelling ideas, including the planning, design, and construction of our digital platforms.
  • Provide mentorship to team members and cross-functional colleagues on best practices for Elixir development and managing large datasets.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies and Jira to enhance team productivity.
  • Regularly submit pull requests to solicit feedback from peers and communicate project milestones.
  • Translate client feedback into actionable next steps, often in collaboration with Account Management and Production teams.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and producers/designers to update progress, resolve conflicts, and keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Devote approximately 85% of your time to direct contributions to the codebase.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in AWS and Linux server management for site setup and deployment.
  • Skilled in creating semantically correct and accessible HTML.
  • Strong expertise in Elixir programming.
  • Proficient in CSS and Tailwind, with sound judgment regarding CSS capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of Git branching, merging, and rebasing.
  • Experience managing large datasets in databases such as Postgres, Big Query, and other cloud-based solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills to effectively share ideas with the team and clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with React or PHP is a plus.
  • Familiarity with game development engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
