Are you a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity in correctional healthcare? American Medical Staffing (AMS) is seeking a skilled LPN to join our team in a correctional setting in Goochland, Virginia.

Job Summary: As a Correctional LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, promoting their well-being and rehabilitation. You will work in partnership with a team of correctional staff to deliver comprehensive healthcare services, including basic nursing care, vital sign monitoring, and medication administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of RNs or physicians
  • Monitor patients' vitals and symptoms, administer medication and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed by a physician and monitor for adverse reactions to medications
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate interventions as needed
  • Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations accurately and timely
  • Educate patients on self-care techniques and promote health education within the correctional facility

Requirements:

  • Valid LPN license
  • At least 1 year of experience in a corrections or similar setting
  • Ability to obtain VA and/or compact licensure
