Responsibilities
  • Safely and effectively perform installation, inspection, and repair tasks for commercial and institutional HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC systems, evaluate solutions, and perform appropriate repairs in emergency situations.
  • Ensure proper care in the safe use and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary to perform tasks.
  • Read and interpret construction and equipment-related documents, such as drawings, manuals, and procedures.
  • Assist other trades personnel in complex work projects and work independently off written and electronic work orders.
  • Document records of maintenance activity in an automated work order system and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of three years' experience as a journey-level HVAC mechanic.
  • Hold a High School diploma or equivalent and related education in HVAC system installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Have solid knowledge of steam and chilled water systems and the ability to work on high- and low-pressure steam systems.
  • Be able to work independently and in a team environment and follow the department's customer service standards.
  • Possess experience working with various types of piping systems, including black and copper.
  • Have the ability to understand drawings and service manuals for all equipment serviced.
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include standing or walking for up to 2 hours at a time, operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment, lifting up to 35 pounds frequently, and working outdoors in various temperatures and environmental conditions.
