Job Title: Behavioral Intervention Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Intervention Technician to join our team at Poway Unified School District. As a Behavioral Intervention Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting students with special needs, providing positive behavior support, and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing positive behavior intervention supports and services using research-based positive behavioral intervention strategies and methodologies.
  • Support the development and implementation of behavioral and mental health components of students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work with students, teachers, and other support staff to promote positive behavior and social-emotional skills.
  • Provide direct support to students with severe behavioral needs, including physical restraint and de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans.
  • Monitor and record student behavior, progress, and data.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure consistent behavior support at home and school.
  • Participate in professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in positive behavior support and mental health.

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience providing behavior support in a school or home setting.
  • Completion of two years of college-level training or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Experience with specific behavioral strategies/programs (ABA, behavior management, mental health systems) preferred.
  • BCBA Certification preferred (or actively working towards obtaining it).
  • Valid certifications of First Aid, Adult/Child CPR, and AED must be obtained within the first six months of employment or be submitted at the time of application.
  • Valid California driver's license.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with students, teachers, and other support staff. The Behavioral Intervention Technician will be required to work in various settings, including classrooms, offices, and outdoor areas. The position may also require travel to multiple District sites as assigned.
