Addiction Medicine Specialist

The Psychosocial Clinician II is a key member of an interdisciplinary team, providing direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention to individuals and/or family members. This role requires expertise in various treatment methodologies and the ability to effectively communicate clinical material to members and clinical staff.
Essential Responsibilities- Conduct timely and appropriate assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for members.
- Provide treatment to adults, adolescents, and/or children, selecting the most suitable treatment modality for each individual's presenting problem.
- Demonstrate expertise in a range of treatment methodologies, including individual, group, and family therapy.
- Effectively communicate clinical information to members and clinical staff, ensuring high internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
- Document clinical encounters in members' charts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct initial interviews with members, eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of their complaints.
- Determine the urgency of members' needs and provide appropriate guidance and therapy in crisis situations.
- Maintain written records of therapy, prepare reports and letters, and communicate with social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain relevant information.
- Provide clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment, addressing family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
- Offer telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals to members.
- Stay knowledgeable about KP and community resources, as well as the span of developmental stages and various treatment modalities.
- Comply with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines, and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
- Adhere to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure, maintaining current licensure.
- Participate in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Support the End of Life Option Act, assisting members and physicians with regulatory data reporting, process coordination, and other related tasks.
- Experience: Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years, with a focus on addiction medicine or a related field.
- Education: A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required.
- License, Certification, Registration: A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) is required.
- Knowledge of current DSM nomenclature and the ability to utilize it in clinical practice.
- Consistently demonstrate knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to members, customers, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with all aspects of psychopathology and the ability to recognize timely clinical treatment interventions.
- Expertise in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
- A current California driver's license, clear driving record, and proof of automobile insurance are required for certain positions.
- AHA BLS card is required.
