The Indian Health Service is seeking a dedicated Supervisory Physician (FP/GP) to serve as the Deputy Clinical Director. This role is pivotal in overseeing various medical service departments within the Crow Service Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct administrative and clinical oversight of multiple medical service departments.
- Assist the Clinical Director in managing overall clinical and administrative functions.
- Engage in management discussions and contribute to policy-making alongside executive leadership.
- Act as a liaison with medical organizations, regional healthcare systems, and tribal authorities to enhance healthcare delivery.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Clinical Director in their absence and represent them in executive meetings.
- Deliver direct patient care within the scope of clinical privileges.
Conditions of Employment:
Selected candidates may be subject to a probationary period. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory, and selective service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. This position involves responsibilities that require contact with Indian children. Immunizations for Measles, Rubella, and seasonal influenza are required, along with COVID-19 vaccination prior to starting the role. A background investigation will be conducted.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution, along with a current, unrestricted medical license. A minimum of one year of supervised clinical experience is required, demonstrating mastery of medical principles through education and training.
Additional Information:
As per IHS policy, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption prior to starting. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be available, and this position qualifies for PHS Commissioned Corps criteria. Opportunities for student loan repayment programs are also available for eligible health disciplines.
