Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and Document Daily Construction Activities: Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
- Prepare Daily Diary/Inspection Reports and Weekly Progress Reports: Accurately document daily activities, measurements, and progress to facilitate project tracking and decision-making.
- Measure Quantities of Materials Used and Work Performed: Conduct precise measurements to ensure accurate tracking of project progress and material usage.
- Prepare/Assist in Preparation of Monthly Payment Requests: Collaborate with project teams to prepare and submit accurate payment requests to stakeholders.
- Review Claims for Extra Work and Change Order Costs: Analyze and evaluate claims for extra work and change order costs to ensure fairness and accuracy.
- Assist in Coordination of Utilities: Facilitate communication and coordination between project teams, utility providers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Interpret Contract Plans and Specifications: Apply in-depth knowledge of contract plans and specifications to ensure compliance and accurate project execution.
- Assist in Coordination between the Owner, Contractor(s), and Government Agencies: Foster effective communication and collaboration between project stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements:
- Highway/Bridge/Paving/Drainage Inspection Experience: Possess relevant experience in inspecting and evaluating highway, bridge, paving, and drainage projects.
- Knowledge of NYSDOT Specifications and MURK Procedures and Protocol: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of NYSDOT specifications and MURK procedures and protocol to ensure compliance and accurate project execution.
- Basic Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills to utilize construction software programs and perform tasks efficiently.
- Recent Public Works, NYS Thruway, and DOT Retirees Encouraged to Apply: We welcome applications from recent retirees with relevant experience in public works, NYS Thruway, and DOT.
Estimated Pay Range: $45-60/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location, and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
