Job Overview

The Project Engineer Level IV plays a critical role in the successful execution of engineering projects. This position involves coordinating support across various engineering disciplines, subcontractors, and assigned personnel to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed, task-oriented plans for large-scale projects, ensuring that all plans are integrated into the overall engineering schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineering Manager to schedule tasks, monitor progress, and report any deviations from the plan.
  • Generate accurate engineering estimates for project durations and budgets, including labor and material costs.
  • Act as the engineering representative in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from commercial and government entities.
  • Communicate any project delays or complications to management, proposing solutions to mitigate impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Facilitate meetings to address and resolve project-related challenges, involving diverse stakeholders from various shipyard functions.

Supervisory Duties
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers and matrixed resources to ensure project completion.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work, providing performance feedback to supervisors.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL security clearance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret technical documents and present information effectively.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software such as FORAN, AVEVA, or similar.

Education Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture from an ABET-accredited institution; advanced degree preferred.

Working Conditions

This role involves both office and fieldwork, with occasional exposure to airborne dust and the need to conduct ship visits. The physical demands include light physical activity, such as lifting and climbing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
