Engineering Project Manager, Apple Watch, Band Design

As an Engineering Project Manager (EPM) within the Softgoods Program Management team, you will oversee the technical management and support of engineering initiatives for watch bands. The ideal candidate will leverage a robust engineering background to guide daily operations with the team, ensuring alignment with overarching program goals. The focus of the Softgoods EPM is on product engineering design, orchestrating development planning, and overseeing validation cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate effective development by establishing and maintaining an efficient process, documenting parallel designs, and ensuring clear paths to resolution for each action item.
  2. Collaborate and enhance communication across engineering, operations, industrial design, and vendor partners to achieve ambitious cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  3. Comprehend technical challenges and intricate design trade-offs. Drive resolution by convening key stakeholders for decision-making to fulfill overall project aims.
  4. Identify potential risks, formulate mitigation strategies, and promote conflict resolution within and among teams, concentrating on primary objectives and devising improved courses of action.
  5. Ensure timely resolution of issues and manage critical paths as project priorities evolve.
  6. Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules for essential enclosure and mechanical components, adapting swiftly to changes.
  7. Grasp system-level part interactions and manage a strategy to deliver key combinations into reliability testing to validate system performance.
  8. Coordinate cosmetic and functional partial unit builds for significant reviews and preliminary testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-4+ years of experience in project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of product development cycles.
  • Strong grasp of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with Mechanical Engineering/Design, Operations, and Vendors.
  • Proficient in establishing project schedules and work breakdown structures.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational, and leadership abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork.
  • Capability to filter and distill pertinent information for the appropriate audience.
  • Self-driven and proactive, showcasing creative and critical thinking skills.
  • Adept at navigating rapid development cycles; remains adaptable and composed amidst uncertainty.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support builds (up to 20%).
  • Additional qualifications include:
  • Experience as a practicing engineer.
  • Background in textile or wearable products.
