Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Lancaster General Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for administering respiratory care services to patients in various age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Your primary duties will include administering physician-prescribed treatments, performing arterial blood gas analysis, establishing and adjusting ventilator management, and providing complete and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer respiratory care services to patients in all clinical areas, including therapeutic gases, aerosol and humidity therapy, positive pressure breathing treatment, and airway care.
  • Perform arterial blood gas analysis and ventilator management under the direction of a physician.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to respiratory technicians and respiratory care assistants.
  • Confers with physicians, Manager, Clinical Services, and shift supervisor in regard to patient respiratory care plans.
  • Participate in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
Requirements
  • CPR certification.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (or hold a temporary permit) by the PA State Board of Medicine.
  • Graduate AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Individual must be registered or registry eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of neonatal intensive care experience.
  • One (1) year of arterial gas punctures.
  • One (1) year of ventilator management.
  • Registry through NBRC - one (1) year.
