Job Summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Early Childhood and Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a member of our community of teachers, learners, and leaders, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Early Childhood General Curriculum in an inclusive setting, catering to students with Special Needs and English Language Learners.
  • Implement district learning goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with state frameworks and identifying access points for student portfolio development.
  • Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays, ensuring understanding and progress in the general curriculum.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives consistent with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), providing timely and regular progress reports on student development.
  • Offer needed accommodations for student learning and testing, and develop and implement curriculum as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support other staff members in responding to student needs for modification.

    • Regularly reflect on practice, seeking and responding to feedback, and demonstrating self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development.
    • Participate in and contribute to a collaborative adult learning community.
    Qualifications
    • Hold a Bachelor's degree.
    • Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities (PK-8) AND Early Childhood AND either SEI Endorsement OR ESL License (PK-6).
    • Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
    • Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools.
    • Current authorization to work in the United States.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience teaching in urban schools.
    • Degree in Special Education.
    • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.
