Imaging Services Specialist

Optum is seeking a skilled Imaging Services Specialist to join our team in Brooklyn, NY. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality CT services to patients while adhering to all department and organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Explain procedures and process to patients
  • Move imaging equipment into the specified position; determine exposure factors based on height, weight, the portion of the body involved, and the degree of penetration required; and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Process images and review them for proper identification and quality control
  • Prepare images for reading by the radiologist or requesting physician
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
  • Routinely provide CT diagnostic services by operating imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate
  • Follow established protocols for each specific scan
  • Demonstrate ability to operate CT equipment properly
  • Follow all scans and filming protocols

Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • License or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology in the state of New York
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • 2+ years of experience in Radiology
  • Ability to work independently in CT environment
