Production Process Engineer

The Production Process Engineer plays a crucial role in facilitating the transition of innovative electro-mechanical product designs from Research and Development to the manufacturing floor, while also ensuring smooth daily operations.

This position emphasizes ongoing process enhancement and cost reduction strategies to promote operational efficiency and meet customer demands.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with various departments to establish manufacturing processes that are reliable, error-resistant, and efficient.
Perform time studies to monitor labor costs, optimize line balancing, and enhance productivity.
Oversee pre-production activities and manage the transition of designs into full-scale production.
Continuously identify opportunities for cost savings through design, process, or material modifications.
Assist in the design and creation of basic tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing efforts.
Develop clear and comprehensive work instructions, testing protocols, detailed reports, and necessary documentation.
Provide training support to Production Associates as needed.
Support Manufacturing Operations to ensure that daily production goals and metrics are achieved.
Assist in diagnosing electro-mechanical system issues and conduct root cause analysis along with corrective actions.
Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Operations teams to address supplier quality challenges.
Promote the development of a safe, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Engage with customers and the sales team to clarify requirements and scope for new products, translating them into actionable engineering specifications.

Lead small teams in problem-solving sessions or lean improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience:
Proficient in Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience in providing improvement suggestions to R&D teams during product development.
Hands-on experience in developing production lines for box-build assemblies.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Experience in crafting clear and concise work instructions for production staff.

Possess a mindset geared towards continuous improvement with a proactive approach to problem-solving, and be a collaborative team player with a positive demeanor.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of Visio, AutoCAD, or Solidworks being advantageous.
Strong problem-solving capabilities along with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Familiarity with ESD prevention, IPC-A-610/J-STD workmanship standards, and Quality Management System Standards such as ISO 9001 and 13485, as well as FDA regulations, is preferred.
Skilled in using basic electronic testing and measurement tools, including calipers, multimeters, and power supplies.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Willingness to travel and work extended hours as necessary to support manufacturing operations.
Must be capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. unassisted and able to sit or stand for up to 8 hours uninterrupted.

Academic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
