Position Overview:

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager acts as a vital connection between the Plant Manager and the centralized Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering division. This position is essential for optimizing financial returns from the plant's capital and maintenance investments, production machinery, and fixed assets, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Engineering and Maintenance teams to guarantee operational reliability that meets Production Team requirements.
  • Partner with the Health, Safety, and Environmental team to uphold compliance with pollution control, equipment installation, modification, and maintenance regulations.
  • Supervise preventative maintenance to ensure compliance and effectiveness, while also ensuring adherence to 5S standards.
  • Manage overhaul timelines to sustain optimal performance.
  • Possess a solid understanding of power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Develop, track, and ensure the timely achievement of both short-term and long-term plant objectives and action plans.
  • Support the Plant Manager in operational enhancements to boost productivity and minimize costs.
  • Implement innovative technologies and Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency.
  • Plan and execute capital asset initiatives in accordance with the Annual Operating Plan and established protocols.
  • Encourage cost-saving strategies and provide operational leadership in coordinating projects utilizing maintenance and manufacturing engineering resources.
  • Create a workplace culture that fosters trust, teamwork, quality, and safety.
  • Oversee team assignments, recruitment, development, training, coaching, and necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Comply with company policies and ensure the production of quality products that meet established quality standards.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of six years of experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
  • At least three years of experience in plant engineering or management within manufacturing, including financial and project oversight.
  • Proven success in managing departmental budgets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Preventive Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Reliability-Based Asset Management.
  • Able to thrive in a demanding 365/24/7 manufacturing environment with rotating shifts.
  • Experience with rotating machinery, such as conveyors.
  • Working knowledge of metals, fabrication, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Understanding of basic water balancing, treatment, and quality control.
  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems and the ability to engage with regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of capital project development, cost estimation, and management.
  • Experience in managing, scheduling, and developing human resources.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and collaborative abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experience with Automated Control Systems, PLCs, and PCs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma manufacturing principles and 5S implementation and sustainability.
