Certified Surgical Technologist Job Description

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical experience.

Certification Requirements
  • Certification in Surgical Technology (NBSTSA) is required, with MUSC Health Charleston not accepting NCCT certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
Job Details
  • This is a 12-week contract position.
  • The successful candidate will work in the Operating Room (OR) as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • The shift will be 3x12s, with days off on weekends.
  • On-call shifts will be required up to 4 times every 4 weeks.
  • Holidays will be worked by the successful candidate.
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs may be required.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist is required.
  • First-timers are accepted for this position.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology (NBSTSA) and BLS are required.
  • Radiation Badge is required, which must be provided by the agency.
  • Trauma Level 1 experience is required.
Schedule Information
  • The shift will be 3x12s, with days off on weekends.
  • On-call shifts will be required up to 4 times every 4 weeks.
  • Holidays will be worked by the successful candidate.
Unit Specific Information
  • Trauma Level 1 experience is required.
  • The Main Operating Room is located within a level-one, academic trauma center.
  • The OR has 21 suites covering all surgical specialties, including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics.
Additional Details
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis, dependent on unit needs.
  • The local radius for this position is 60 miles.
  • Locals are accepted for this position, with consideration on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than the posted bill rate.
  • RTO restrictions apply to client offers, with all RTOs required at time of submission.
  • Guaranteed hours are available, with the facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
