Lead DSP

Oswego County Opportunities is seeking a skilled and compassionate Direct Support Professional Lead to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Provide leadership and guidance to direct support professionals, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
• Assist with daily living routines, including hygiene practices, toileting, and grooming, as assigned.
• Administer and/or assist with medications, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to OPWDD regulations.
• Participate in and implement habilitation plans, ensuring provision of Medicaid billable services with accurate documentation and billing records.
• Ensure proper handling of Agency money and documentation for approved purchases, assisting with individuals' personal allowance purchases.
• Assist with house cleaning, laundry, and routine household maintenance, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
• Participate in individual activities, ensuring community integration and providing transportation, using agency vans or personal vehicles as needed.
• Document and report incidents, following OPWDD regulations and Agency procedures.
• Follow Agency policy and procedures in emergency and non-emergency situations, handling situations that arise and seeking assistance as needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• 1-3 years of directly related experience in direct care and leadership, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Valid NYS Driver's license with a good driving record, and access to a reliable, properly registered, inspected, and insured vehicle for related area travel/transport.
• Ability to perform within the DD program Functional Job Description, including lifting regularly, pushing wheelchairs, assisting in transferring individuals, and climbing stairs.
