Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Sales Associate to join our team at Recreational Equipment Inc. in Orland Park, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to product, membership, and REI service questions, general inquiries, and customer feedback.
  • Effectively maintain and stock work areas, ensuring all items are accurately priced.
  • Work with store management, visual merchandising, and sales leads to maintain visual standards.
  • Promote the sale of REI goods and services, engaging in sales and service training.
  • Process purchase, membership, service, and return transactions at the register, adhering to REI's 100% satisfaction guarantee.
  • Collect payment, make change, and distribute receipts.
  • Perform unique transactions, such as special orders, Outdoor School registration, and store mail-outs.
  • Identify, research, and resolve customer issues.
  • Support Retail Store Pick-Up by assisting with product receipt and customer pick-up processing.
  • Maintain customer and employee hold areas, keeping them organized and removing items beyond hold dates.
Requirements
  • Previous retail store experience is preferred.
  • Actively participate and collaborate with team members and across REI for business goal achievement.
  • Be flexible in viewpoints and positions to support REI's direction.
  • Use business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment to solve problems or pursue business opportunities.
  • Consolidate information from various sources, including feedback from others, to reach sound decisions.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Knowledge of outdoor activities in assigned department.
  • Consider the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers.
