Position Overview

We are in search of a dedicated Adapted Art Therapy Specialist to become a vital part of our K-12 educational team on a contractual basis. This role involves collaborating with students who have varied learning requirements, employing art therapy methodologies to foster their social-emotional growth, self-expression, and overall wellness. The successful candidate will possess experience in educational environments and a comprehensive understanding of how to modify art therapy practices to cater to the distinct needs of students across various grade levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored art therapy services to students with diverse learning profiles in both individual and group formats.
  • Work in partnership with educators, counselors, and other school personnel to weave art therapy strategies into students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or support frameworks.
  • Conduct evaluations to pinpoint students' strengths, challenges, and therapeutic objectives.
  • Design and execute customized art therapy sessions aimed at addressing students' social-emotional requirements, communication abilities, and sensory processing.
  • Keep precise and confidential records of student progress and therapeutic plans.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary team discussions and assist in formulating comprehensive support strategies for students.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Art Therapy, Counseling, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred: Registered Art Therapist (ATR) credential.
  • Experience with K-12 students in educational or clinical contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of special education legislation and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary group.
  • Adaptability and creativity in modifying art therapy techniques to address the diverse needs of students.
