Registered Dietitian Eating Disorders Specialist

The Registered Dietitian is a key member of the treatment team at Center For Discovery, responsible for overseeing the dietary component in tandem with the Clinical Model.
Responsibilities:- Meet with each patient on a weekly basis to implement and manage individualized dietary meal plans, including conducting weekly calorie counts.
- Conduct dietary intake on admission and complete documentation on each client's progress throughout the treatment experience.
- Facilitate nutrition groups for adult and adolescent age groups and implement one dietary treatment plan for each client within a week of admission.
- Communicate with referring and/or outpatient treatment teams throughout the patient's treatment episode and collaborate with the Director of Dietary Services and the treatment team to ensure the best standard of nutrition and dietary services.
- Enforce dietary program and advise clients on food choices, demonstrating understanding of the medical consequences of eating disorders and the hazards of re-feeding.
- Implement specific dietary exchange patterns through knowledge of portion size and caloric recommendations and facilitate family sessions and education as needed.
- Communicate with medical doctors and psychiatrists as required and remain accessible to family members through regular communication.
- Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in nutrition and completed accredited dietetic internship.
- Preferred one year experience in dietary counseling.
- Must be fully registered/certified in the appropriate state and have a thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field.
