Job Title: Assistant General Counsel - Commercial Contracts and Product

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to support our legal team in managing commercial contracts and product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract law, preferably within the healthcare payer sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the drafting, negotiation, and review of various commercial agreements while ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate with the broader legal team to provide comprehensive legal advice that aligns with our strategic goals, focusing on areas such as intellectual property, commercial agreements, and product development.
  • Stay ahead of legal and regulatory developments in healthcare, technology, privacy, and cybersecurity, translating complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for the team.
  • Establish negotiation objectives and schedules to support and meet business requirements.
  • Prepare negotiation documents that reflect an advanced knowledge of commercial contract terms and conditions, legal requirements for compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the Company's financial policies and strategies.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial contracts, preferably in the healthcare payer industry or related field.
  • Strong candidates will have knowledge of and experience in counseling product and technology teams in functional areas including artificial intelligence.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading diverse teams.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal and regulatory issues to non-experts.
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and good standing in the New York or California bar required.
