Position Overview
The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role within MRC Entertainment's Accounting division, reporting directly to the VP, Controller. This position collaborates with various departments across Film, Television, and Shared Services, ensuring seamless operations in all accounting functions. Key responsibilities encompass daily corporate accounting tasks, including accounts receivable management, cash application, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis, alongside supporting the period-end financial close and management reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the execution of quarterly and monthly financial closings, providing relevant management reporting and analysis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly financial statements, annual disclosures, and third-party reporting.
  • Support the annual financial statement audits and third-party participation audits.
  • Conduct account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and perform cash forecasting.
  • Monitor and report on financial commitments.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement improvements.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, with public accounting experience preferred; CPA or CPA in progress is advantageous, along with experience in the entertainment sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and experience in financial statement preparation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Concur).
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage details while maintaining a broader perspective and balancing multiple tasks in a dynamic, results-driven environment.
  • A strong desire to learn and a passion for the entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity with ASC606 revenue recognition for Film and TV licensing agreements and participation statement reporting is a plus.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
